Why Ant-Man Director Peyton Reed Wasnt A Fan Of Yellowjacket
After spending years in development as one of the first Marvel Studios project, Ant-Man finally arrived in the summer of 2015, only a few months after Avengers: Age of Ultron. In his origin story, Paul Lang's Scott Lang faced off against Corey Stoll's Darren Cross, a.k.a. Yellowjacket, Hank Pym's former mentor who built his own shrinking suit, albeit to be used as a weapon. Like many of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's villains, Yellowjacket basically served as a twisted counterpart to Ant-Man, and director Peyton Reed acknowledges that ultimately he wasn't a fan of how the main antagonist turned out. Reed explained:
The villain in that movie felt like a bit of a vestige from the era in which that project was started, [which was] around the time of Iron Man one, where you have an antagonist who has a similar power set [as the hero]. I was hell bent on doing something different in [Ant-Man and the Wasp].
Ever since Obadiah Stane built his Iron Monger suit in Iron Man, the movie that kicked off the MCU, this franchise has had a habit of pitting its heroes against villains with similar skill sets, with other examples including Hulk and Abomination, Captain America and Red Skull, and Doctor Strange and Kaecilius. Some of those kinds of villains have been well-received, others haven't, and as Peyton Reed acknowledged to io9, he feels Yellowjacket, who he inherited from Ant-Man's Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish days, ultimately didn't pay off as a baddie. If it helps, at least Yellowjacket has been taken off the table for good, as Darren Cross' body was crushed by his out of control shrinking suit when Scott Lank shrunk and damaged its internal mainframe.
Fortunately for Ant-Man and the Wasp, this particular villain problem wasn't an issue. This time around, Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne (who is finally suiting up) are facing off against the mysterious Ghost. While her background is still shrouded in secrecy (with one notable exception), the previews have shown her using her phasing abilities. It's one thing fighting an adversary who as similar abilities as you, but going up against someone who you can't even touch is arguably even more challenging. Throw in Hank and Hope recruiting Scott to help them find Janet van Dyne in the Quantum Realm, and our intrepid protagonists have a lot to deal with in this latest Marvel movie.

Mark Ruffalo Apparently Dropped An Avengers 4 Spoiler During His Tonight Show Appearance
In Avengers: Infinity War, Bruce Banner and the Hulk were going through major issues, with the former unable to get the green guy to come out and fight when the need was most dire. In real life, actor Mark Ruffalo is facing his own internal struggle as he continually fights to keep from spoiling MCU movies, a battle that he seems to be losing. The actor is appearing on this evening's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and it seems that during the taping, he dropped a spoiler for the eagerly anticipated and highly mysterious Avengers 4. Take a look:
Don't be surprised if The Tonight Show's ratings show an uptick for tonight's episode. This just became mandatory viewing, or at least something worth DVR-ing and skimming through later. We all want to know what Mark Ruffalo's off the record slip was and what clues it might give us about Avengers 4. He could just be teasing, but this certainly wouldn't be the first time or the second that Mark Ruffalo, in charmingly clueless fashion, has let a spoiler slip about an MCU movie. The actor has thought he would get fired before, so he certainly needs to remain tight-lipped, and should a spoiler slip out, he needs to do everything he can to minimize how much it spreads and that's what we see here.
It may be too late to stop the signal though, at least if Jimmy Fallon's response is anything to go by. The host responded on Twitter that basically those birds have flown and that the final show has already been sent in. He does offer that perhaps the spoiler could be bleeped out if Mark Ruffalo is really going to get in trouble for it. So if you're watching the show and you hear a bleep in an odd place, find a good lip reader because there be spoilers there. Or curse words, one of the two.
Should he have really let an Avengers 4 spoiler slip, Mark Ruffalo can make a good case for overtaking Spider-Man actor Tom Holland asy the MCU's most notorious leaker. However, Tom Holland is much younger and newer to this whole thing, so perhaps there is a bit of leeway there. Mark Ruffalo is just comically bad at keeping secrets and even accidentally manages to spoil things, like when his phone was streaming a screening of Thor: Ragnarok to his followers, unbeknownst to him.
As far as what Mark Ruffalo could have spoiled on The Tonight Show is anyone's guess. According to the actor, the recent reshoots were actually finishing the ending to the film, which I'm sure is a closely guarded secret. There is a bit of a sense that Avengers 4 is even more secretive than Avengers: Infinity War. Given the way the latter film ended and the fact that we don't even know the real title to the Phase 3 capper, there's a lot to speculate about. I'd like to think Mark Ruffalo's tweet is really just a tease and we're actually getting the title on the show or a trailer, but it seems too early for that, and presumably there would be more of a buildup to such a reveal.

Looks Like The Birds Of Prey Movie Is Getting A New Title
The DC live-action universe has had a fascinating journey, and it's still very much in its infancy. After Zack Snyder's Man of Steel hit theaters, Warner Bros. went ahead with creating a shared universe for their characters to inhabit, and moved forward quickly both announcing and releasing projects. One blockbuster that seems to be actively developing is the Birds of Prey movie, which will unite Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn with other female heroes and villains.
The Birds Of Prey creative team is slowly being assembled, including cinematographer Matthew Libatique, who has worked in projects like Venom and A Star Is Born. In a recent interview, Libatique claimed that the movie might not be named after the iconic DC team, saying:
I'm in preparation on a film currently called Birds of Prey. It's probably going to have a different title.
Well, that's a plot twist. Considering that the upcoming movie has only been referred to as a Birds Of Prey movie, many fans thought it would be titled as much. But Matthew Libatique is part of the production team, and is therefore privy to more information than the rest of us plebeians.
Matthew Libatique's recent comments to GMA News Online do make a great deal of sense, considering the cast that has been assembled for the Birds of Prey movie thus far. The upcoming female-fronted flick will be another vehicle for Margot Robbie's beloved Harley Quinn, who made her debut in the less than stellar Suicide Squad. Since villains and law enforcement officers will also make up the film's leading characters, it makes sense that a new title might be necessary.
Currently set to join Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey, whether or not that's the title, are a trio of DC vixens. Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane) is playing Bat-family member Helena Bertinelli / Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell (True Blood) will take on the role of Dinah Lance / Black Canary, and longtime TV and film star Rosie Perez will play GCPD officer Renee Montoya. The overall storyline is a complete mystery, but there's going to be a variety of women staring in the movie.
The Birds of Prey movie is currently set to be directed by Cathy Yen, and the screenplay is being written by Christina Hodson (Unforgettable, Bumbebee). There's already a ton of female talent attached to the project, which will likely help increase excitement about the upcoming blockbuster. The call for diverse female representation both in front and behind the camera has been a hot button of conversation in the past few years, with new ground being broke with projects like Wonder Woman, Netflix's Jessica Jones, andCaptain Marvel.
